“…You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things…” Matthew 25:23

Matthew 25:14-30

“Again, it is like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. (15 To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his

journey. (16 The man who had received the five talents went at once and put the money to work and gained five more. (17 So also, the one with two talents gained two more. (18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

(19 After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. (20 The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See. I have gained five more.’

(21 His master replied. ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.’

(22 The man with the two talents also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.’

(23 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.’

(24 Then the man who received the one talent came. ‘Master,’ he said, I knew that you area hard man, harvesting where you have not shown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. (25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

(26 His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest and gather where I have not scattered seed? (27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

(28 Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. (29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. (30 And throw that worthless servant outside, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

1. Why did the master entrust his servants with his property?

2. How many talents did he give to each servant?

3. What did each servant do with his talent?

4. What was the reward/punishment that was given to each servant?

5. What was Jesus teaching in this parable?

"“For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Now, that doesn’t seem fair or politically correct to our Western minds, but are we really hearing what He said?

"For every person that hath The Son, sahll be given LIFE – and those without THE SON will lose evern what little they have." We know this because the next sentence speaks of hell.

If you are talented, use your talents for Him. You’ve got a heck of a promotion coming if you’ll just show the allegiance and initiative. Turn your fear of His Power into love and appreciation of His Mercy – You’ll naturally serve Him as you seek to please the best Friend you’ve ever had.

By the way, if it is still bothering you that the guy with 10 got 11, rather than the guy with 4 getting 5, look at it this way: Both guys were told that they had done well with a little and would be rulers over a lot. He did not differentiate between the two, but told them the exact same thing. On a heavenly scale, what they had coming would blow away anything that they were currently holding.

It’s my pure conjecture that the Lord was saying that He will do as He pleases, much in the same way that the material wealth He has given me far exceeds that of most people in central Africa; but He loves us both exactly the same. It the wholly His prerogative to bless in His Way.” Fact, Faith or Fiction He Loved Us
